Ipswich enters the regional Anglia in Bloom campaign for 2009
Ipswich in Bloom is proud to be entering the prestigious Anglia in Bloom regional campaign this year. The campaign, which covers the whole of East Anglia, includes entries from cities, towns and villages. We have won both Silver and Bronze awards in the past (in the category for large towns and cities), but this is our first entry since 2004.
The past few years have been spent concentrating efforts on annual campaigns for residents and organisations within the Borough of Ipswich, but we felt the time had come to enter Ipswich into the high profile Anglia in Bloom campaign once again. AiB’s entry criteria are much more than bedding plants, hanging baskets and perfect lawns, and include Permanent planting – variety and sustainability, Environmental quality, Floral and foliage displays, Public awareness and Sustainable development.
Their organisation requires evidence of public sector, private groups and Local Authority co-operation and it is therefore important that each sector makes a contribution. We are already working with existing and new supporters who have made a commitment to get involved this year and we thank them most sincerely for taking the time to be working with us and to make ‘our’ entry worthy of the judging criteria.
Together we aim to improve the environment, encourage community spirit and promote a healthy outdoor activity. Ipswich in Bloom also works in association with town centre business organisation ‘Ipswich Central’, which plays an important role in organising the floral displays in the tower plants that are placed at several locations throughout the town centre during the summer months.

Entrants will be invited to attend a prestigious ceremony that takes place in September (details in due course), where certificates and prizes will be awarded.
Here we see a presentation being made for the Best Garden category by Mrs Eileen Ward - Anglia in Bloom judge. |
